Classic Mistakes

In Jeff Atwood’s post today I was drawn to the article on Classic Mistakes by Steve McConnell. The comment he makes in the introduction is a real gem:

The common denominator in this list is that you won’t necessarily get rapid development if you avoid the mistake, but you will definitely get slow development if you don’t avoid it.

These 36 mistakes are things that is get into your project act as a burden on the project eventually dragging it backwards. This should definitely be a check list for any project that isn’t performing before they try other methods. If you have one of these mistakes in your project you had better get rid of it because anything else you do will suffer because of it.
